We are a week away from our Memorial Weekend Shootout and I want
to take this opportunity to give an update on what is going on. We had a club
race Saturday night and had some awesome racing. Every class had great
competition. Some classes were getting three wide and had some strong moves
with passing on the outside. Our track held the moisture very well but we had
some bumps in the track that kept the drivers searching for a line to race on.
Dirt tracks, you’ve got to love it! We will be working on this problem all week
to give the racers the best track possible for the two day show and I feel that
we can get a real racey smooth surface and with the racing I saw Saturday night
I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see multiple lines high and low. With all the
fantastic competition that is expected to show up to the Memorial Weekend
Shootout I think the race fans and drivers will be in for a real treat. I am
looking forward to this 2 day IKF 4a regional event and I think we will have a
great show.
On a side note, they
are filming the movie “Terminator 4” on the road coming to the race track so
when you come in don’t be alarmed if you see all of the burnt and crashed cars
along the road. I am told that they will be filming a scene where there is an
air strike with a bunch of explosions, who knows we may be lucky enough to see
it live this weekend!
I am looking forward to this 2 day IKF
4a regional event and I hope to see racers from all over including Arizona,
Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and of course New Mexico!
Thank you in advance,
Charley Hill
And the entire ASK BOD
